CULTURAL CONTINUITY
The Cultural Continuity Worker supports urban Indigenous children and youth in care to build and maintain meaningful connection to their Indigenous cultures. The role of the CCW is to help connect and re-connect children and youth to their ancestral territories, community knowledge keepers and Indigenous ways of being in order to strengthen their sense of connection and cultural identity. They also provide one to one support in the care home to ensure that meaningful cultural connection continues within the care home and that the care giver is connected to the child/youth’s Nation. Cultural Continuity Workers act as an important cultural resource and participate in various planning aspects for children and youth.
