SCCFS Board Announces New Executive Director

The Board of Directors of Surrounded by Cedar Child & Family Services is pleased to announce Suzanne Patterson as the new Executive Director for the Agency.

Suzanne has worked for a Delegated Child & Family Services agency for over 12 years in the roles of Guardianship, Child Protection, Team Leader, and Programs Manager. She has also had the opportunity to work with her Elder for 7 years in the Indigenous community, facilitating preventative, cultural, personal healing, and parenting workshops across the Province of BC.

Suzanne is a wife and mother of 3 boys. She and her family currently live on a small hobby farm in Maple Ridge and will be relocating to Victoria.

The Agency, via the Board of Directors, offers our most sincere congratulations to Suzanne and looks forward to working with her!

Taanishi! I would like to formally introduce myself, my name is Suzanne Patterson.

I am Metis of Cree and Scottish ancestry from Fort Pelly, Saskatchewan. I am married to my husband and best friend for 27 years and am a loving mother to my three sons, ages 21, 17, and 13. Our family enjoys living on a small hobby farm in Maple Ridge. I received my Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Criminology at Si on Fraser University in Burnaby. My work history is in social work; I worked for a Metis Delegated Child and Family Services agency for over 12 years in the roles of Guardianship Worker, Child Protection Worker, Team Leader and Programs Manager. As well, I have had the opportunity to work with my Elder for 7 years in the Indigenous community, facilitating preventative, cultural, personal healing, and parenting workshops across the province of BC. I am honored to work for Surround By Cedar Child and Family Services and to be part of a vision to address the intergenerational effects of colonization and advance transformative change for the future well-being of Indigenous children, youth and families.
