LIFEBOOKS
Creating a Path is a unique Lifebook for Indigenous children and youth in and from care or who have been adopted.
It has been designed through the understanding that connection to spirit and identity through familial, hereditary and cultural linkages are the strongest protective factors in the lives of Indigenous people. Creating a Path aims to capture a child or youth’s birth story, including information about family members, cultural identity and ancestral territories, as well as information about their in-care or adoption journey. It is meant to be used as a collaborative space to continuously gather information throughout a child/youth’s growing up years.
These Lifebooks are available to any individual or agency looking to support caregivers to record special memories for their child/youth. It is a tool to help children understand who they are, their in-care or adoption journey, while also capturing important life moments.
