Gather – Heal – Honour
On May 5 , 2025, in recognition of National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, SCCFS and our partners hosted the 4 annual Our Womxn are Sacred walk. We gathered with our community members in reflection and in honour of our sacred life givers, our 2SLGBTQIIA+ relatives, and our Métis, Inuit an First Nations communities who are impacted by the ongoing epidemic of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
We walked softly in the spirit, lightening each other’s burdens, uplifting our children, families, and communities, reaffirming our men in their roles as protectors, and in remembrance of loved ones gone too soon. The OWAS committee and organizing agencies raise their hands in gratitude to those who came out in support, and for those who shared their words, tears, grief and strength. We walk forward together every day remembering, Our Womxn are Sacred.
